What is Azure Advisor?
Definition: Azure advisor scans your Azure resources and provides you recommendations to optimize various things like Security, Deployments, Performance, Cost, Resource manageability, and Reliability (Formerly called: High Availability).
Notes:
- Azure Advisor runs in the background to analyze your configured resources and usage telemetry and gives you actionable recommendations.
- For newly created resources, it can take up to 24 hours to provide recommendations.
- You don’t need to act on every recommendation. You can also Postpone or Dismiss the recommendation.
- You can download the Azure Advisor recommendations report in CSV or PDF format using the link given on the Advisor Overview page.
- You can access Azure Advisor only with permissions – Owner, Contributor, or Reader of a subscription, Resource Group, or Resource.
- Azure Advisor provides recommendations for these Resources.
How to access Azure Advisor?
- Open your Azure Portal and find out Advisor from navigation.
- Click on the link and the recommendation panel will open.
- You can see there are 5 types of recommendations listed.
Azure Advisor Recommendations Categories
- Cost:
- Recommendations on reducing your overall expenditure on azure resources by analyzing the idle and underutilized resources.
- Security:
- Recommendations on vulnerabilities that can cause security breaches.
- This will help to detect, prevent, and respond to threats.
- Reliability:
- This recommendation is very useful in making sure the continuity of the critical applications for business.
- Operational Excellence:
- This helps in resource manageability, deployment best practices, and process and workflow efficiency.
- Performance:
- This helps to improve the responsiveness and speed of business-critical applications.
